Hibiscus helps clients open new avenues of communication with those they love most. As a therapist, Apollonia Wenting Kang works with couples, individuals and families to resolve conflicts and gain a deeper understanding of themselves, while learning the skills to generate sustainable change in their relationships. In her practice, she provides virtual counseling services in English and Chinese in the states of New York, Illinois and Florida.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and Florida, and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Illinois, Kang draws on a diverse range of evidence-based frameworks to tailor her approach to her clients’ needs. At Hibiscus they specialize in working with couples experiencing a high degree of challenge and conflict, including life transitions and betrayal, and with individuals struggling with anxiety, anger, and depression. Kang draws on her own immigration experience to help families address the challenges inherent in immigrant experiences. She supports households in healing from intergenerational trauma and restoring connection between parents and children separated by ideological and cultural differences. As a consultant, Kang advises therapists on methodologies and systems that can be used to evolve their own practice and enrich their clinical skills. As a compassionate and engaged counselor, Kang is skilled in holding space for clients, modeling the openness, accountability and self-acceptance they’re working to achieve within themselves and their relationships. She helps her clients co-create tangible changes in their lives, their relationships and ultimately, their communities.
