The Translational Research Institute for Space Health began with a large mission, to lead a national effort that takes terrestrial health research and applies it to the risks of human exploration of deep space. It set out to do this in partnership with NASA and Baylor College of Medicine, and an institute at that scale needs a way of presenting itself before the first presentation is ever given.
The audience is wide. Researchers, partners, funders, and the public each meet the institute through different pieces, and without a shared brand each of those pieces would speak in its own voice. The work itself is technical, and the story of why it matters had to be easy to follow for people who are not scientists.
DesignGood laid the groundwork by creating the original branding, positioning, messaging, and a brand and style guide with the identity, type, color, and stationery details a growing team needs. That foundation gave the institute something to build on, and we have kept building with it, designing presentations, annual reports for NASA, custom PowerPoint templates, branding for new initiatives, and brand and web design for events. Our favorite recent work is the vibrant color palettes created for the EXPAND and TRISH TRACK 2021 event brands.
Today the institute has a consistent identity across every piece it shares, and each report, deck, and event feels like part of the same organization, whether the reader is a researcher at a partner institution or a member of the public seeing the work for the first time. Its team can bring new initiatives to life with a brand that already knows how to explain them.
